Julie’s Maternity Portraits

Before our extended stay in St. George we went out to the Great Salt Lake Wetlands Preserve for some maternity portraits of our own Julianna! The kids were off running wild with some friends (thanks Penn and Kiersten) so we were able to focus, have fun, and get some great shots.  The light was excellent so we went natural light for these first 3 images.  I am awe struck with Julie’s beauty!  She is graceful, strong, and totally sexy. Am I a lucky guy or what?

For the rest of the images we turned around and used the sun as a backlight. We had a single SB-600 in a 45” umbrella on full power to rock these images.  We were going for a dreamy look. I’d say we nailed it.  :)

Elders Butler

I have the great privilege of working with the youth in my ward in the LDS Church and particularly with the 16- to 18-year old boys. Four of the boys have recently chosen to serve and share the gospel on a mission. I’m very proud of their choice and made a portrait of each of them.

Tyson will be serving in Argentina and Taylor in Paraguay. I am fully confident that these two will serve the people of Argentina and Paraguay with all their effort and enlighten many via the gospel of Jesus Christ. Meet Elders Butler.

Karlee at 1 Year

A few weeks ago we had the opportunity to photograph the cute Karlee for her one-year birthday. We took these at the Great Salt Lake Wetlands Preserve on the southwest side of Layton (this place is a great location)!  The first image was taken with an SB-600 on full power through a shoot-thru umbrella just out of the frame on the left. The sun acted as the backlight.

The rest of the images were taken with available light. We think they are just so cute.

Elder Baxter

I have the great privilege of working with the youth in my ward in the LDS Church and particularly with the 16- to 18-year old boys. Four of the boys have recently chosen to serve and share the gospel on a mission. I’m very proud of their choice and made a portrait of each of them.

Tate has already entered the missionary training center and will be serving among the people of Minneapolis. We are so excited for him and know he’ll touch the lives of many people. Meet Elder Baxter.

Recreate: A Fun Idea!!

I came across a blog last night called Young Me/Now Me. It is dedicated to adults trying to recreate one of their favorite photographs taken when they were little. Here are a few examples:
