Tip-or-Tech Tuesday – Behind the Scenes of a Photoshoot

A fellow photographer friend of Rob’s had the idea of a “band photoshoot” at the Great Salt Lake for microstock. Rob was all over this one. He loves having pictures taken of his drums and of him playing his drums :)

I (Julie) wasn’t originally planning on going with him but babysitting worked out and I found out that an old friend of mine was going to be one of the models so I tagged along.

I wasn’t too excited to photograph the same things the three other professional photographers with much better gear were going to photograph. So I decided to shoot “behind-the-scenes of a photoshoot in black and white”. I got excited over that prospect, which is always a good thing as a photographer…to be excited over the subject you’re shooting.

So here are some shots of Scott Smith, Zig Peacock, and Nate Marx. They’ll each have their own amazing pictures up of their websites shortly. Bekah and Shane were the other models.

These next two are maybe my favorites from the set.

More images are here. I’ll have more photos of Rob and the landscape later.

Nice job Julie, I love seeing behind the scenes photos. I really like your choice to do them in Black and White.

Nice photos and choice of processing Julie. I wouldn't say that any of us are "pro" photographers. Just avid photographers.

Great series Julie. I really like the shot of Nathan sitting on the rock.
